How to Apply for State Technical Assistance
The Technical Assistance Project (TAP) is designed to provide state and local officials with assistance with their renewable energy and energy efficiency policies and programs. See selected examples of TAP projects for your comparison.
The application process is quick and simple. Many projects begin to receive assistance within a week or two.
To apply for assistance from DOE under the Technical Assistance Project (TAP) for State and Local Officials or for more information, contact the EERE Project Management Center:

The TAP Team will then determine if your request fits within the guidelines. If so, they will take some basic information from you, such as:
Name of the agency making the request.
Contact information for key people involved with the request.
List of other state and local agencies involved with the request.
Short summary of the requested assistance, including whether travel may be required.
Specific person or laboratory from which you are requesting assistance, if applicable.
Since resources that can be allocated to an individual request are limited, the TAP coordinator can help you scope the project to ensure that TAP is the right opportunity for your state or locality. If approved, your request will be forwarded to the appropriate DOE national laboratory and assigned to a technical expert who will contact you before starting work.
To ensure coordination between federal and state assistance, DOE ensures that the state energy office is informed of all TAP assistance projects in that state.
