The following DOE organizations are responsible for implementing the Tribal Energy Program. This page provides a summary of their roles and links to more information.

DOE Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program

Role:

• Determines scope of the Tribal Energy Program
• Manages program budget
• Directs field activities, including work at DOE laboratories.

More information:

• The Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program provides information on cost, performance, and financing of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. The program is responsible for maintaining working relationships with stakeholders, including Native American tribal governments.

Golden Field Office

Role:

• Issues solicitations
• Manages resulting projects — except for the 1994-95 projects, which were managed by the Denver Regional Office.

DOE Laboratories

Role:

• Provide technical support to DOE headquarters, DOE field offices, and projects
• Conduct renewable resource assessments and technology options analysis
• Conduct technology research and development in cooperation with U.S. industry.
