State Information

Multi-State Information

This site holds links to Web sites that are published by the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) and that have state information as part of a regional or national focus.

State and Community Partnerships

EERE publishes two state Web sites that deal with state issues across market sectors and technologies:

Find links to program Web sites in EERE's Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program (WIP) that can help meet specific community needs with tailored energy solutions.

Energy Efficiency

Building America Projects in the States

DOE's Building America lists an online inventory, organized by state, of thousands of homes built by participating builders. This inventory provides a minimum amount of information about each project.

ENERGY STAR® Store Locator

Find a store near you that has agreed to identify products that carry the ENERGY STAR label. These stores are partners with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's and DOE's ENERGY STAR Program, and the lookup is organized by zip code.

High Performance Buildings Database

DOE's Buildings Technology Program maintains a database, organized by building type and region, of 74 buildings. This database provides a case study about each project, including building construction and occupancy, materials used, and lessons learned during construction.

Weatherization Assistance Program Technical Assistance Center

The Weatherization Assistance Program Technical Assistance Center (WAPTAC) lists state contacts, national regulations, and training for states and for local weatherization agencies that provide weatherization services to low-income families.

Renewable Energy

Distributed Energy Research and Development Projects by State

DOE's Distributed Energy and Electricity Reliability Program lists more than 250 of its research and development projects in a database that is organized by state. Project descriptions include title, research abstract, project goals, and project and DOE contacts.

Geothermal Resource Maps

DOE's Idaho National Energy Engineering Laboratory (INEEL) publishes geothermal resource maps for 13 western states and the western United States as a whole. INEEL makes maps available in various formats, and provides the supporting resource assessment data in metadata format.

Green Power Network — Utility Green Pricing Programs by State

EERE's Green Power Network links to utility green pricing programs by state. The list includes the companies involved, the renewable energy resources used to supply the electricity, and the cost.

Green Power Network — Green Power Products Available by State

EERE's Green Power Network provides a table, organized by state, that links to companies that offer green power products to consumers. The list includes the companies involved and their product names, the residential price premium, renewable energy resources used, and the certification, if available.

Hydropower Resource Assessments by State

DOE's Idaho National Energy Engineering Laboratory (INEEL) publishes a resource assessment report for every state except Delaware, which was excluded because of its very limited hydropower resources.

Solar America Cities

Working in partnership with DOE, Solar America Cities have are developing a sustainable solar infrastructure and encouraging the adoption of solar energy by their residents and businesses.

Solar Electric Case Studies — PV in Action

EERE's Solar Program publishes solar electric case studies for selected states. The case studies deal with stand-alone PV installations, homes, and grid-connected and utility systems.

State Wind Activities

EERE's Wind Powering America publishes a list of state wind activities, including lists of contacts for state wind working groups, and state resource assessment programs.

State Wind Energy Resource Maps

EERE's Wind Powering America publishes wind energy resource maps for most states. Some are developed by researchers who work for DOE's Wind and Hydropower Program; others are developed by the states.

U.S. Wind Power Generating Capacity by State

EERE's Wind Powering America records the amount of wind power generating capacity by state on a map of the United States.

Wind Energy Resources on Tribal Lands

EERE's Tribal Energy Program uses a geographic information system (GIS) to publish assessments of wind energy resources, organized by state, on Indian tribal lands.

Wind Power on State Lands

EERE's Wind Powering America publishes this list of resources, which include access to technical assistance and online documents, that are available to state land managers who are interested in developing wind power projects.

Industry

State Financial and Technical Assistance Programs

EERE's Industrial Program lists state technical and financial assistance programs for industries in eight states in the Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Transportation

Alternative Fuel Station Locator

You can search for a station by fuel type and location on this database, which is published by EERE's Alternative Fuels Data Center.

Alternative Fuel Station Counts by State and Fuel Type

EERE's Alternative Fuel Data Center publishes this list of alternative fuel stations by fuel type and state.

Alternative Fuels Training Providers

Alternative fuels training providers are listed by state at the bottom of this Web page, which is published by EERE's Clean Cities.

Clean Cities Coalitions

This page records Clean Cities coalitions by location on a map of the United States and a link to a list of Clean Cities coordinators, organized by state.

State and Alternative Fuel Provider Rule — EPAct

EERE's FreedomCAR and Transportation Technologies Program publishes this fact sheet, which targets all state agencies, about how to comply with EPAct.

Policy, Planning, and Energy Security

Green Power Network — State Policies

EERE's Green Power Network publishes an explanation and a list of states that have adopted three policies — disclosure of fuel sources, green power policies, and net metering — that encourage electricity suppliers to offer green power options to consumers.

Financial Incentives

Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy

The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) publishes the Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE). This database lists loans, rebates, and grants for individuals and business to install renewable energy systems, upgrade the energy efficiency of their homes or commercial establishments, or purchase alternative fuel vehicles. See new state incentives.

ENERGY STAR New Homes Partner Locator

ENERGY STAR lists homebuilders who build energy efficient homes that are qualified with the ENERGY STAR label and who offer ENERGY STAR mortgages. The lookup is organized by state.
