States are involved in all phases of developing and deploying renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, often in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) State Energy Program (SEP). State energy offices manage projects in the four market sectors that produce and consume energy: buildings, electric power, industry, and transportation. They also support policy initiatives as required by their state legislatures and executives. Finally, they are at the forefront of public information campaigns to educate the public about the benefits of energy-efficient products and the potential of renewable energy.
Here you will learn how the State Energy Program categorizes these projects by topic, definitions of included projects, and links to project descriptions for each topic.
Find descriptions of all State Energy Program projects in the states.
Find links to descriptions of projects funded by DOE Formula Grants to the states organized by topic.
Find project descriptions of SEP Special Projects.
Find case studies published by DOE's State Energy Program, EERE technology programs, or by state energy offices. The case studies examine in some depth how a state energy office approaches a particular energy issue or how it promotes the adoption of new renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
Find short project descriptions written by state energy offices and published in SEP's bimonthly newsletter, Conservation Update.
Find definitions of SEP topics that are useful for categorizing the work of state energy offices under DOE's State Energy Program. There are also links to state energy office projects that exemplify a particular type of work, and a short list of the types of projects that are not included under each topic to differentiate it from another SEP topic.
