Program description: TREND s a program of the Alaska Small Business Development Center designed to diversify and strengthen the state's economy by supporting small businesses in the innovation and commercialization of new technology. TREND serves as a centralized resource to assist small businesses in applying technology to commercial opportunities. This is accomplished through a comprehensive offering of services that include business counseling, workshops, access to technical information, assessment of technology, referral to key resources and strategic planning. trend maintains a network of experts from academia, industry, and government as a means to expand trend's delivery of services and provide technology firms with the tools they need to succeed in today's competitive global market. TREND provides assistance in applying for SBIR/STTR federal grants and has partnered with the Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) to establish the Alaska Phase 0 Program, which provides grants up to $8,000 to assist small businesses with SBIR/STTR Phase I proposal preparation. TREND also provides a networking service, trendnet, and conducts workshops. Its website has a comprehensive grant search feature.
