Program description: WestStart-CALSTART is dedicated to supporting and accelerating the growth of the advanced transportation technologies industry and its related markets, with the goals of: • Cleaning the air; • Improving energy efficiency; and • Creating high-quality jobs. WestStart-CALSTART is a non-profit organization that works with the public and private sectors to develop advanced transportation technologies and foster companies that will help clean the air, lessen our dependence on foreign oil, reduce global warming, and create jobs. It was founded in 1992 as CALSTART, but rapidly expanded to address national and broader Western needs. It now operates as WestStart with CALSTART as its California operating division. WestStart-CALSTART serves as an industry catalyst to spur advanced transportation technologies, systems and the companies that make them via its four main activities.
