For over 30 years, this non-profit organization has been helping innovators protect and market their ideas. The IAL Web site includes start-up advice and information on patenting and avoiding innovation marketing scams.

Ask The Inventors
This Web site, designed and run by two sisters who successfully marketed their invention, is intended to assist other innovators hoping to patent and commercialize their ideas.

United Inventors Association
The UIA is a non-profit organization formed in 1990 to educate and support independent innovators. The UIA Web site includes a monthly newsletter, bulletin board, and numerous articles on innovator assistance.

Patent Café
This Web site is devoted to intellectual property management, including IP protection, patent search services, licensing information, an 'inventor center' and bookstore.

InventNET: The Inventor’s Network
InventNET provides information to independent innovators on developing and marketing new innovations. The site includes articles, forums, a bookstore, a patent search, and attorney information.

Inventors Forum
This non-profit organization is devoted to the assistance of early-stage innovators and commercialization of their innovations. The IF holds regular meetings and invention-assistance seminars, as well as providing online resources. The Links section of the IF Web site is particularly helpful.

Inventor's HQ
This site provides free information and resources for the novice innovator. It includes information on licensing, developing prototypes, and patents.

National Inventor Fraud Center
This organization seeks to educate independent innovators on how to successfully market their innovations. Specifically, the NIFC addresses the issue of invention promotion companies and invention marketing. NIFC's Web site also provides information on patent protection and licensing.

Inventor Resources Site, USPTO
This Web site is the definitive guide for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Q&A regarding patenting.

Inventor's Digest
This is the most prominent periodical for American innovators.

1000 Inventions
This site offers over 1000 innovations for sale or for licensing by the International Federation of Inventor's Associations (IFIA) from innovators originating in 100-plus countries.

The Enterpreneur’s Network
This organization offers advice, information and contacts to innovators and entrepreneurs.

Global Women Innovators and Inventors Network (GWIIN)
GWINN specializes in working with women on issues concerning intellectual property rights, innovations, and inventions.

PatentHunter™
PatentHunter is a software program that helps patent attorneys, businesses, and innovators search, download, and manage United States and foreign patents.

Delphion
Delphion is a private intellectual property research corporation. It was once a spin-off of IBM's intellectual property network and is now part of the Thomson Corporation.

International Federation of Inventors' Associations
IFIA is a non-profit, nongovernmental organization created by seven European innovator associations in 1968. Today, IFIA membership belong to more than 90 countries, and it is the only organization which groups innovator associations worldwide.

World Intellectual Property Organization's Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises Division
This program seeks to raise awareness of the relevance of intellectual property for small- and medium-sized business and promotes initiatives to make the IP system more accessible, less cumbersome, and more affordable for SMEs.

European Patent Office

FreePatentsOnline.com
This Web site offers a patent database capable of browsing patent number 4 million through 6.75 million (roughly 1975-2004). It gives a filing date, owner, and description of each patent. The patent database also allows for searching by patent number.

The Eureka Club
This Web site is an innovator-support network that includes an innovation database. Innovators are welcome to submit their innovation descriptions into the database but are counseled to wait until patenting to do so. Innovations are organized by type: there are over 50 energy-related innovations listed.
