Federal Energy and Water Management Awards

Each year the U.S. Department of Energy, in conjunction with the Federal Interagency Energy Policy Committee ("656" Committee), sponsors the Federal Energy and Water Management Awards. These awards honor individuals and organizations making significant contributions to the efficient use of energy and water resources in the federal government.

Awards recognize outstanding achievements in the following areas:

  • The conservation and efficient use of energy and water;
  • The use of renewable energy sources;
  • Implementing sustainable practices for high performance buildings; and
  • Implementing sustainable practices for vehicle fleet management.

2008 Federal Energy and Water Management Award Winners

To view the guidance criteria used to evaluate the 2008 nominations, you may refer to the 2008 criteria and guidelines (MS Word 130 KB). Guidance criteria for the 2009 Federal Energy and Water Management Awards is planned for release by mid-February 2009. Award nominations will be due on May 22, 2009.

Event Information

The 2008 Federal Energy and Water Management Awards evening reception and luncheon ceremony were held on October 21 and 22, 2008 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. Acting Assistant Secretary John Mizroch was the keynote speaker and presented awards with FEMP Program Manager Richard Kidd. Please check back in February 2009 for information on the 2009 events.
