Partnerships

The Distributed Energy Program operates a network of partnerships with industry, states, laboratories, universities, and federal offices and agencies. Collaborations include cost-shared research and development projects, the development of codes and standards, and information dissemination activities.

Partnerships include:

• Federal Energy Management Program
  To promote and install distributed energy (DE) systems at federal facilities
  
  
• Hydrogen, Fuel Cells and Infrastructure Technologies Program
  To accelerate the development and successful market introduction of fuel cells and other hydrogen technologies.
  
  
• State Energy Program and State Technologies Advancement Collaborative
  To increase awareness, promote benefits, and remove barriers to DE. Additional state program partnerships include:
  
  
  • The California Energy Commission's Public Interest Energy Research Program
  • The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority's Distributed Generation and Combined Heat and Power Program
  
  
• DOE's Office of Electric Transmission and Distribution
  To manage existing transmission and distribution research and development and develop new technologies that increase electric system reliability and efficiency in the areas of transmission reliability, high-temperature superconductivity, distribution and interconnection, and energy storage.
  
  
• U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
  To support its combined heat and power partnership program and work to remove barriers to the siting and permitting of cooling, heating, and power systems.
  
  
• National laboratories
  To develop an integrated national laboratory support effort that assembles the capabilities of the labs and makes them available to manufacturers and end users for testing and evaluation of the performance and integration of DE systems. The DE program has partnerships with:
