When a number of even small distributed generators are combined under common control, their aggregate contributions can easily become more attractive to utilities and system operators accustomed to dealing with 10-MW and larger facilities. (Central station plants can exceed 1,000 MWs.) Currently under development, DENNIS is just one activity that will provide a way to control a collection of small distributed generators as a single virtual unit capable of selling power and ancillary services to utilities, ISOs, and other entities.
