Research Projects

Front view of the BigHorn Improvement Center building in Silverthorne, Colorado. The High Performance Buildings Initiative develops whole-building design methods that integrate energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies into commercial buildings. Research is being conducted on projects across the country. Projects include a visitor center in a national park in Utah, office buildings in New York and Pennsylvania, an environmental center at a university in Ohio, a headquarters building for a research foundation in Maryland, and several research facilities in Colorado.

In addition, research is also being conducted on improved methods for measuring building performance. These research projects involve working with a national and international building community that includes researchers from national laboratories and building design and rating companies and organizations in the United States, Europe, Asia, and North and South America.
