EPA Launches "Save the World, Start with Energy Star"
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
saving the world does not involve saving a cheerleader, but
rather, taking action to reduce your greenhouse gas
emissions. A new Energy Star Web site provides a list of
steps to take as well as a pledge, allowing anyone to be a

DOE and EPA Honor Energy Star Partners
DOE and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
honored 76 businesses, groups, and government entities on
April 1 for achieving major energy savings or helping
customers save money and energy through their work with

DOE Announces New Energy Star Criteria for Water Heaters
Next year, consumers will be able to buy water heaters
carrying the Energy Star label. DOE has established new
Energy Star criteria for solar water heaters, heat pump water
heaters, and three types of gas-fired water heaters.

DOE Sets New Energy Star Criteria for Washing Machines and CFLs
DOE announced on March 7 that all qualified Energy Star
washing machines will be held to more stringent standards,
which will gradually increase in both 2009 and 2011. Energy

Energy Act Creates New Energy Efficiency Standards
The standard, inefficient incandescent light bulb is on its way
out, as the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007
imposes new standards that will boost the nation's use of
energy efficient lighting. The act also mandates increased

Trade Commission Launches New EnergyGuide Label for Appliances
After a two-year review, the Federal Trade Commission has
finalized a new design for the EnergyGuide label, the bright
yellow label that helps consumers select energy efficient
appliances. The new label places emphasis on the estimated
annual operating cost rather than the actual energy use. More

DOE has increased the energy efficiency criteria for

The energy ministers from the United States, Canada, and
Mexico have agreed to align their energy efficiency standards

Energy Star Program Tightens Requirements for Computers
Computers manufactured on or after July 20th will have to
meet tough new energy performance criteria to earn the
Energy Star label, including energy-use criteria in three
operating modes. Most computers will also have to be
