Refrigerated Beverage Vending Machines

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE or Department) is required by the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), as amended by section 135(c)(4) of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, to establish energy conservation standards for refrigerated bottled or canned beverage vending machines manufactured on or after August 8, 2012. (42 U.S.C. 6295(v)(2), (3) and (4)) The Department will be holding a public meeting on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, to discuss issues and procedures involved in energy conservation standards rulemaking for refrigerated beverage vending machines.

Framework Document

  • Framework Document (PDF 275 KB): The purpose of the Framework Document is to describe the procedural and analytical approaches the DOE anticipates using to evaluate and establish energy conservation standards for the covered refrigerated beverage vending machines, and to encourage and facilitate stakeholder input during the rulemaking.
